U2 - 1987-06-27 - "World in Action" Dublin, Ireland (DVD-rip)

DVD rip - Pro shot
"U2 World in Action, ‘Anthem for the 80’s
Divx Video divided into chapters
Broadcast by Granada TV, August 1987"
Running time 52 mins 36 secs

It’s easily the best quality i’ve seen of this show, much better than Outside it’s America Inside it’s Dublin. This documentary was made by Granada TV in 1987 featuring footage from the 1st night at Croke Park, Dublin. World in Action was a weekly political program.
This edition is about U2 and their audience and focuses on the problems Dublin was experiencing in the mid 80’s mainly unemployment and drugs. Interviews with Bono, Edge and Bob Geldof  The live footage is excellent, none of the songs are complete (about 80%), this is the largest amount of live footage broadcast on tv from the Joshua Tree tour.

The songs included are,

01. Where the Streets Have no Name
02. Running to Stand Still
03. Bad
04. Sunday Bloody Sunday
05. Bullet the Blue Sky
06. I Still Haven’t Found What I'm Looking For

Live Forever: The Rise and Fall of Brit Pop is a 2003 documentary film written and directed by John Dower. The documentary is a study of popular culture in the United Kingdom during the mid to late 1990s. The focus of the piece is British popular music (Britpop), which underwent a resurgence during the mid-1990s and then seemingly retreated with similar haste towards the end of that decade.

Live Forever, named after an Oasis anthem, charts how bands such as Pulp and Blur embodied the era now dubbed Cool Britannia. Blur's lead singer Damon Albarn and Oasis brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher talk frankly about their rise to fame in the 90s but also how they became disillusioned. Artist Damien Hirst, who was a leading light of the movement, has created limited edition posters to promote the movie which are expected to sell for £1,500 each. The poster is based on an untitled painting by Hirst, who also appears in the movie.
British culture rocked and cool Britannia had arrived.

The long-awaited Deluxe Edition of the 1973 theatrical documentary Jimi Hendrix.
This is the biography of Jimi Hendrix, the world famous guitarist who died much too young. Featuring the guitar wizard on stage and behind the scenes, classic concert footage is interspersed with interviews with friends and prominent musicians giving first-hand recollections, including Pete Townshend, Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, Little Richard, Lou Reed, Buddy Miles and more. Includes songs "Hey Joe," "Rock me baby," "Like a rolling stone," "A Star Spangled Banner" from Woodstock `69 and many more, from his beginnings to his Monterey, Woodstock and Isle of Wight performances.

This documentary was made three years after Jimi Hendrix's untimely death. At the time it was an example of how a visual biography should be done.
The film contains concert footage spanning the Marquee in 1967 to his last UK performance at the third Isle of Wight festival in 1970; along the way we see classic performances at Monterey (1967), Woodstock (1969), Fillmore East (1969/70), and Berkeley (1970). A double album was released to tie-in with the film, containing the complete performances in the film, along with interviews with people in the film (not necessarily the same interviews). The film is worth seeing for Jimi's performances, and to hear what his contemporaries have to say about him (Eric Clapton, Mitch Mitchell, Lou Reed, Mick Jagger, Pete Townsend, and others)
