DVD features
The scope of Yellow Submarine's 1999 restoration is idealized on the DVD version, which beyond its slightly letterboxed original aspect adds a stunning 5.1 sound mix that showcases the audio team's wizardry; music fans can hear the entire score without dialogue, the better to focus on such revelations as "Nowhere Man," boasting a gorgeous, full-stereo chorus, and "Only a Northern Song," with a first-time-ever stereo mix that exploits the full surround array for appropriately mind-blowing effect. Other special features include three storyboarded sequences, two of which are not seen in the final film; behind-the-scenes photos and featurette; a full-length audio commentary; and the original theatrical trailer. --Sam Sutherland

The Beatles - Acoustic Masterpieces - The Esher Demos

In late may 1968 The Beatles came together at "Kinfauns", George Harrisons home in Esher. One by one, first John, then George, then Paul, recorded 23 of their newest compositions by double tracking themselves onto George's reel-to-reel.These songs were written during the Beatles' two month stay on a meditation course in Rishikesh, India and subsequently recorded on the White Album. Not all of them made it onto vinyl, thus remain unreleased at least as Beatles versions. These 1968 sessions remained in the vault until a few years ago. Sounds like a sunny, smokey day. Here is a selection you may have heard before and maybe the first time this song was played amongst the Beatles as a group. It is presented in the best possible sound. Enjoy.
