Superstar Rajni supports Anna Hazare

Anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare, who hogged international attention after his last week’s fast in New Delhi, received support from Superstar Rajinikanth on Wednesday, a day when Tamil Nadu went to polls.

Actor Rajinikanth cast his vote on Wednesday just like many other voters in Chennai. But there was a difference. While others went behind the makeshift ply-board screen to exercise their franchise in privacy, the actor was caught in the act of pushing the button against the two-leaves' symbol on the electronic voting machine by the flashing cameras.

Speaking to reporters after casting his vote, the top actor of Tamil cinema expressed his admiration for Hazare. “His determination against corruption is really great,” said Rajini.

“I had in fact planned to meet him last week itself. But my ill-health didn’t allow me,” he said.

Speaking at length on the corruption issue, he said he would like to join the Anna Hazare movement. "I will join Anna Hazare in his fight against corruption, which is a major issue in the country now. We should tackle it in a big way," he concluded.

Rajini also said that price rise is affecting the people a lot and the government should do something to check rates of essential commodities. “The downtrodden are suffering due to spiraling prices,” he said.
