Rush - 1992-04-29 - Over the Europe (SHN)

Rush - 1992-04-29 - Over the Europe (SHN)
Venue: Hans-Martin Schlayerhalle, Stuttgart, Germany
2 CD Audio
Bootleg: Over the Europe
Catalog: Metal Crash: MECD 2084/2085
Very Good Audience

Audio Rating (DRE): 9

Comments:
"Excellent show! How do you sleep at night knowing you don't own this one?" Brent's Bootlegs (DRE)

"What a great show. This is an excellent audience recording. Everything sounds nice and clear. The audience noise is almost non existent. There is someone who claps along with the beginning of a few songs but it quickly stops. A few highlights of the show, the little extra jam at the end of Bravado and Alex's improv vocals during Closer To The Heart. The only negative thing about the recording is that the bass is low. I would actually recommend this show over Mirrors. I think the band as a whole gives a much better performance than the Oakland show. Overall, a must have for the Bones era." Bill Girton (DRE)

Comments:
"Taken directly from the dat master clone soundboard source. Not only is this the best sounding soundboard so far from the RtB tour, in my opinion this is also their best performance of the tour. Performances of "The Trees", "Vital Signs" and "The Analog Kid" make these 2nd leg shows the best of the tour. Can't go wrong with this show. The versions of Vital Signs during the last days of the RtB tour are incredible. Alex's guitar work in the song is the best he's ever done. The song has new life, power, and intricacy that was not always present in previous performances.?There is one drawback to the show, it is missing the encore. If you are familiar with dat tapes, it shouldn't be to hard to figure out why the encore is missing. A standard dat is only 120min in high quality mode. Starting with tSoR, there are digi-noise problems. If you want the encore, I would suggest checking out "Charlotte Fever - Platinum Edition" which is an exceptional audience dat of this very show. I'm well known for not liking shows from the 1st leg of the RtB tour, and one listen to this should make it very clear why I feel that way. Once again thanks to Rubicon and others for helping to acquire the show. As with all Digital Reproductions recordings, it's only available via free trade and never for sale. Just visit the trading links section to find people that will gladly trade this recording for free"
.  (The Digital Dan)

"Mirrors" doesnt hold a candle to this recording. If you're looking for an extremely wide soundstage, and an amazing "upfront" sound, this is the recording for you".Conductor (Audio - 10)

"This is one of my first Rush boot. One of their greatest tour & excellent sound!!Must for every fan!! " Cenk Turanli (Audio - 10)

"i must have been living in a cave for i don't know how long -- why am i just recently getting turned on to THIS? Mirrors is a really great sound but when i slapped on the Sennheisers and cranked this one up i almost fell out of my seat... the mini-moog/temple blocks section of The Trees tickled my brain -- i could almost taste outer space! the dynamic range of this recording trumps anything else i've heard to date... since this is later in the tour, Subdivisions and The Pass are replaced by Vital Signs and Analog Kid -- a significant upgrade, IMO. this has quickly joined The Hartford '90 as my favorite Rush SBD" C-Blocker (Audio - 10)

Rush - 1992-05-03 - Rotterdam, Holland (FLAC)

Location: Ahoy Sportpaleis
Bootleg: Atmospheric

Media: 2 CD Audio
Time:
Catalog: Crystal Cat Records: CC 301/302
Excellent Audience

Average Rating: Audio: 8.8

Comments DRE:
"Atmospheric indeed! .. This is the best audience recording I have ever heard. Being such high quality sound and being an audience recording, you can close your eyes and almost think that you are there. If you are looking for a Roll The Bones boot with some atmosphere .. this is certainly it. Some people think that great soundboard shows sound almost like they are a official release and lose the bootleg feel to them. If you are one of them then this is the RTB boot to get. Otherwise, look into obtaining "Mirrors". (Brent's Bootlegs (Audio - 9))

Rush CD Bootleg List:
"This is probably the best audience Roll the Bones boot out of all those released so far. It even surpasses Over the Europe in terms of quality. And in spite of what was originally thought, those two boots ARE separate shows. The guitar and vocals are very sharp (including the backing vocals that Alex does!), the drums solid, although the bass can be a bit hard to hear. Even the intermission music (before "Show Don't Tell" for example) stands out, as does the "surround" parts ("I will be the judge"). One slightly annoying thing are the fans -- very loud and obnoxious, but luckily only during the first couple of songs. They must've been told someone was recording the show :-) One other thing that is nice (or annoying) is that every, and I mean EVERY song is indexed. Intermission music and song medleys included. Packaging is a bit weak, but does contain some nice shots of the band during the RTB tour. I especially like the back photo of Geddy & Alex playing together! The CDs themselves are very unique, having an ancient calendar on them. Not quite Rush-related, but it seems like something they would've put inside Counterparts. Overall, a sharp-sounding show, well worth checking out, and the best audience RTB show out!"

"This is the best sounding audience tape ever! It actually sounds so much better than almost every other soundboard out there! I like this bootleg a whole lot more than "Mirrors", most would disagree with me, but it IS they who are wrong! The performance in "Mirrors" is pretty bad when compared to... well, lets just say Kenny G packs more raw passion into his shows. At least in my set list, "Mirrors" has just become obsolete. Never again will I sit through that bland performance. Throughout "Force Ten" you can hear the audience REALLY talk a lot, then they are in the perfect mix for every single second of the rest of the show! I think this is a tremendous must have, I cannot think of one single knock on this one, the sound is 100% and the performance is above average for a great live band! A funny little thing is Alex is freaking out during "Closer to the Heart", he usually does his improv and says something that is at least a sentence structure to it. This time he just spats out things at a hundred miles an hour and I just struggle to keep up, let alone understand. Perfect show, get this one for sure!" (ToBeOrWhat (Audio - 9))

Rush - 1994-01-18 - Pensacola, FL (FLAC) - RepostCivic Center
Bootleg: First Part of the Counters

Comments:
"Released at Feb. 25, 2005, under the new RUSH specialized label CYGNUS, from the bootlegger who runs Ayanami, Langley, Masterport, Sirene, Power Gate, Reel Master etc. This title is the first CYGNUS release. Recorded at Jan. 18, 1997, Civic Center, Pensacola, FL. Four days prior to the opening night at the same venue. Almost complete (missing latter half of YYZ) run through rehearsal like "Echoes on the Stages" released in 2002 and the sound quality of this recording is MUCH better than that. Just INCREDIBLE. Could listen to LOTS of funny talk, misplays and fake plays with excellent sound. Also could listen to the CP version of Distant Early Warning. Really interesting recording and MUST-HAVE for all RUSH collectors. "(DRE)

"I just finished listening to this & what else to say but WOW!! Phenominal recording of the guys in action with all the bugs being worked out before our ears. Funny thing about Alex. As with Echoes On The Stages, he has a hard time getting the string selection right at the start of CTTH. Even as many times as he's played that song, at least during rehersals, he starts off wrong. Back to the review. Get ahold of this one any way you can via the Rush Hub, trade or over at easytree."(tst4eko)(Audio - 9.5)

Comment:
"If for no other reason, the sound quality of this recording is sufficient to make this title a must have. The other strengths of the recording include the energy level which always pervades a hometown  Toronto show, the quality of Geddy's voice this particular evening, and the completeness of the show. The chief downside of the recording is that it favors the treble-end of the music range, which is great for the guitar, vocals and snare drum but de-emphasizes the bass and other lower-end tones. Further, while of high quality, the recording device all but misses the acoustic guitar, certain electronic textures, and vocal/sound overdubs standard in all live performances. This allows for a unique listen to Alex's back-up vocals and a clearer picture of why the overdubs are used in the first place. Finally, there are several sound imperfections - most notably a short fade during Limelight and a buzzing noise during the first part of Tom Sawyer but these are not overly distracting. Again, I would highly recommend this show for your collection". (Mark Schneider - DRE)

Taper: Hail Ozzy

Lineage: Sony ECM-719 cardiods -> Tascam DR-07 (24-bit) -> Audacity (increase level, change to 16-bit, tracking) -> Flac (level 8) -> you

Taper Comments:
"Section 204 center. Great show with energetic crowd. Geddy still hitting the high notes. First time at Concord Pavilion, which is kind of a shit hole with poor design and not very loud.
Must be some sort of noise ordinance preventing a decent volume.  Makes the cheering of those around me more irritating, but overall still a very clear recording. My subjective rating: B".

Comment:
Second leg shows at the Concord Pavillion are always Rush at their best and tonight was no exception. Camera Eye and Presto were my personal favorites. The drum solo was also really a stand out. Peart is really mixing it up these days and tonight just sounded really different and more complex than anything I have heard him do in the 15 or so shows I have seen over the last 25 years. Geddy says the new album will be out around Christmas...Can hardly wait.
Thanks again gentlemen for another unforgettable 3-hours of great music.

Production Notes:
"As a show that was already released I wasn't sure. I wanted to remaster this, but when I heard the Nuts & Bolts version I thought it lacked something, maybe a little balls. I looked at it in Sound Forge and it was lacking in the levels department. So I said screw it, this one is for me and if someone else wants it fine. Being that it was a clone of the master DAT I was able to split the cd where I prefer to, after Limelight making both cd's almost the same length.? I then proceeded to ever so slightly remaster it to the sound I like, which I honestly think was just the right touch. I think this version sounds a bit purer and truer than N&B's which to me sounds a tad flat. Like I said this is for me and if you don't like, how can you not being a SB, go listen to your Nuts & Bolts! :-) "  Dave@Rush-Signals Productions

"Another excellent audience recording from the Presto tour. All the band members sound very distinct and clear as the recording really captures a powerful performance. Many of nuances come through very well including the sound effects and the spatial distance of certain guitar solos by Alex. A very good atmosphere indeed. There is an abrupt transition between the drum solo and War Paint, but none of the music is missing. The band seems real laid back tonight, yet still as tight as ever. Another recommended recording".
